KUALA LUMPUR: National hammer thrower Jackie Wong Siew Cheer is down with Covid-19 and has been hospitalised in Sarikei.
The 27-year-old Philippines SEA Games silver medallist is the first national athlete to be tested positive with the virus.
He is believed to have contracted the virus from his father.
Jackie flew from Kuala Lumpur to Sarikei on March 2 to meet his parents.
His father was not feeling well and was later confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 9.
Jackie went for a check-up on March 14 and was tested positive on Monday (March 16) morning. Jackie has been admitted. - Star
