Hand sanitiser sold at RM50, Netizen wants ministry to take action

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | A Netizen wants the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry to take action against a convenience shop in Kajang for selling a 500ml bottle of hand sanitiser at RM50.
The individual, who introduced himself as Manickam, said he felt cheated having bought the hand sanitiser at such a price.
“I stay in Saujana Kajang. When my wife went to one of the convenience shops to buy hand sanitiser, it was priced at RM50 per 500ml bottle.
“My wife was shocked but she had to buy it at that price especially since it was the last bottle.
“I hope the ministry will take action against the shop and will also monitor the price of goods around the country,” he told Malaysiakini.
Manickam had earlier uploaded two pictures of the hand sanitiser as well as the receipt on social media.
Details on the receipt show (RM10 X 5 items = RM50) as though five items were being sold for RM10 each.
Another Netizen complained about having to buy a box of face masks for RM25 when normally it would be priced at RM10.
“Fourteen days without work and now the prices of goods have gone up,” said the Netizen.
Malaysia is currently observing a restricted movement order which will be in force until March 31.
Only essential public and private venues will remain open, including supermarkets and convenience stores.
