PETALING JAYA A 70-year-old Covid-19 patient who travelled to Indonesia last month died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (formerly known as HUKM) today, pushing the death toll from the virus to 11.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the patient, Case 1,070, had had a history of chronic health problems.
He said the patient was the head of a surau and had shown symptoms of Covid-19 a week before being admitted to hospital on March 18.
He tested positive for the virus a day later.
Noor Hisham said the patient was admitted to the ICU after experiencing breathing difficulties, but that his health deteriorated on a daily basis.
He died at 9.05pm last night.
Yesterday, Noor Hisham said there had been 123 new cases confirmed, bringing the total number of infected people to 1,306 nationwide.
The 10th fatality was a 74-year-old man from the Sri Petaling mosque tabligh convention cluster.
Of the new batch of confirmed cases, 74 patients were traced to the tabligh gathering held late last month. - FMT
