IGP: Interstate travel requires police permission during movement control order

KUALA LUMPUR: All interstate travel will require permission from police during the movement control order, says Bukit Aman.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the public were required to notify their respective police station chiefs and submit an application to travel to other states.
"They will be required to bring any documents to verify their business there," he told reporters at Bukit Aman on Tuesday (March 17).
He said exemption letters would be issued to those who need to travel for important matters or emergencies.
He said police would use the next few days as a litmus test to see if the public adheres to the order before taking the next step.
"If we find that people were still flouting the order, we will decide on taking stricter action," he said, adding that the public has a responsibility of adhering to the order.
He also said during this period, counters to settle traffic summonces and licensing departments in the force would remain closed.
"Those who wish to settle their summonses could do so online," he said. - Star
