I just received this. A number of Malaysians are now stranded at airports in India - because flights to Malaysia have been cancelled. They have little means of paying and supporting themselves for don't know how long. Here is a text message (no name provided) and a video.
Hi guys I'm in Thiruchy airport and all our flights have been cancelled.
Tried calling our Malaysian Embassy in Chennai and there is no support from them as well.
It's very disappointing and most of our people here are without money to survive for next the 15 days, many of them are with babies, children and elderly people.
We need your full support to share this message.
Kindly dont ignore us. Please share this and let the MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE.
We feel very sad that the MALAYSIAN embassy is not responding to our calls.
Apa pasal the Malaysian High Commission in Chennai is not responding to their calls?
During the Arab Spring in 2011 we sent military airplanes and military personnel to "rescue" thousands of Malaysian students from Arab countries.
During the Arab Spring in 2011 we sent military airplanes and military personnel to "rescue" thousands of Malaysian students from Arab countries.
In 2015 (I think) we did the same to rescue Malaysian students 'studying' in Yemen.
I hope our Air Force can send a few planes to India (mostly Chennai and Thiruchi) to bring back our stranded Malaysians. There are not thousands of them, perhaps a few hundred only. Or Air Asia may want to assist.
These are are our own citizens.
Obviously there are women, children and old people involved.
They can be brought back home and placed into immediate quarantine, home confinement etc.
Chennai and Thiruchy are about FOUR hours by flight.
The government should act quickly on this.

The situation is unprecedented.
The government should do something quickly.
