KUALA LUMPUR: “Thank you everyone.” That was the caption of a video uploaded by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad soon after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as the new Malaysian premier.
‘Don’t be shy, shy, ” said his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali when she hugged Dr Mahathir, believed to be in his office at Yayasan Al-Bukhary yesterday.
The 94-year-old statesman then replied “sudahlah” as he continued hugging his wife after he was requested to do so by those present in the office.
Marina Mahathir was seen capturing her parents’ sweet moments.
As at 2pm yesterday, the one-minute video had garnered over 610,000 views and more than 16,000 comments on Instagram.
The comments generally thanked Dr Mahathir for his leadership and his contributions as Malaysia’s fourth prime minister from 1981 to 2003, and again as the seventh premier in 2018 when he led Pakatan Harapan to victory in the 14th General Election.
Praying for his well-being, most of the commentators also said that it was time for Dr Mahathir to rest and spend more time with his family.
The user @finasaffie commented: “Thank you Tun... It’s time for you to take a good rest... spend time with your beloved wife and family. I will always support you and you will always be my number one champion.”
@uyainaarsahd said: “I love you both so much.”
Another follower, @aimiezainuddin, said: “Terima kasih Tun. Jasa Tun akan dikenang sampai bila-bila. Take care Tun.”
The comments came from people from all walks of life, including @josephine_phen who praised Dr Mahathir for his contributions to the country.
“One of the greatest. Thank you Tun, ” she wrote. — Bernama

ReplyDeleteTDM Sir,
ReplyDeleteEvery beginning has an end and so is life. And one day life will also come to an end.
Your days on this planet are getting shorter. Why not spend whatever days left with your loved ones, quit politics and ride serenely into the sunset like your former deputy Tun Musa Hitam.
