Malaysians in Finland can still fly out if they want - Embassy

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Malaysians in Finland who intend to return home can still do so as the Finnish government has yet to impose any flight restrictions on their air space in view of Covid-19, said the Malaysian embassy in Helsinki, Finland.
The embassy said the only airports which remain open for international routes at the moment are Helsinki international airport, Mariehamn Airport in the Ă…land Island, and Turku Airport.
“Malaysians are therefore still able to fly out of Finland via these airports. They just need to ensure that their flights are not cancelled,” it said in a reply statement to Bernama.
On the fate of eight Malaysians who were reported to be stranded in Helsinki, the embassy said all of them are tourists and they have already left for Malaysia via Istanbul, Turkey.
The embassy said not all of the 390 Malaysians registered with the embassy want to return to Malaysia as some are married to locals while others are still working.
“There isn't a curfew currently imposed by the Finnish government. They have however advised everyone to avoid public places, practice good hygiene and avoid hoarding.
“Though the city may be quiet, there is no sense of panic at the moment.  Malaysians should adhere to the instructions of the host government,” it said.
