Malindo Air offers unpaid leave, cuts flight capacity by half

KUALA LUMPUR: Malindo Air appeals for help from its 5,200 employees to take two weeks unpaid leave each month until the challenging environment caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak subsides, it says in statement.
It said the company was severely impacted by dip in revenue due to coronavirus outbreak.
"People are putting off travel, not just out of fear of contracting the virus but also due to the travel conditions and restrictions imposed by aviation and health authorities, ” says CEO Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri.
Malindo is experiencing a reduction of 50% flight capacity across its entire operation from 2019.
“The situation is grave,"it said, adding that it has started transferring some of its grounded aircraft to sister company Batik Air Indonesia.- Bloomberg
