Man linked to tabligh cluster admits Covid-19 exposure only after treatment

MELAKA: A patient who was treated for pneumonia at the Oriental Melaka Straits Medical Centre (OMSMC) here admitted after treatment that he had been in contact with a colleague who had tested for Covid-19.
The hospital, in a statement on late Saturday (March 21), said the patient was initially treated as a pneumonia patient.
It was only after treatment that he said that he had contact with a person infected with Covid-19 linked to the tabligh cluster from the Seri Petaling Mosque.
The patient was then transferred to the Melaka Hospital where he was confirmed to be positive and is currently receiving further treatment there.
The patient, a 42- year-old local, had in contact with an office mate in Kuala Lumpur who tested positive Covid-19.
The office mate is linked to the tabligh cluster Masjid Jamek in Seri Petaling.
OMSC said all employees and patients who had been in contact with the patient had been traced and sent for the Covid-19 test.
They are now under quarantine.
Movement tracing was carried out and affected areas have been closed for sanitisation.
The hospital said it had managed all cases promptly and in accordance to the guidelines from
the Ministry of Health on the prevention of Covid-19.
The statement also OMSMC was committed to ensuring everyone was protected, including its staff, doctors and patients.
It added that clinical services at OMSMC would not be affected and that patients could continue with their existing care plans at the hospital.
