Michael Chong urges Customs to release face masks stuck at airport

PETALING JAYA: MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong (pic) has urged the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to release the 10,000 face masks that are currently being held up.

Chong said he was frustrated that the face masks donated by two parties that he knew were still stuck at the airport.

“The stocks arrived at 7.31am last Friday (March 20) but Customs has not cleared and released the stocks.

“There is a serious shortage of masks.

“How do you expect our Rela (Malaysian Volunteer Corps) people to go on active duty?” he said.

Chong is an honorary commissioner of Rela.

He urged Customs director-general Datuk Paddy Abd Halim to step in and expedite the process in light of the current shortage of face masks in the country. - Star
