New cabinet to be sworn in by next week - source

A new cabinet led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will be sworn in latest by Tuesday, according to a source.

"All the parties, Umno and PAS, have submitted their candidates to be considered for the cabinet.

"God willing by Monday or Tuesday (they will be sworn in)... it can be said that next week, the new cabinet will be crafted to form the administration," a senior party leader told Malaysiakini on condition of anonymity.

The source said that party leaders had already met Muhyiddin today, with another round of discussions to be held tomorrow.

Muhyiddin was sworn in on March 1 as the head of a Bersatu-BN-PAS coalition dubbed Perikatan Nasional, with support from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

This followed a political crisis which saw the Pakatan Harapan government collapse.

Among those from Harapan who joined Muhyiddin in the new government include Azmin Ali and Zuraida Kamaruddin, who were sacked by PKR.

It's possible that they will make a return to the cabinet, according to the source.

"I was made to understand that some former ministers will be reappointed in this new cabinet," the source said. - Mkini
