KUALA LUMPUR: There is no order for a lockdown in Petaling Jaya district because of the Covid-19 outbreak, the district police chief said today.
Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said irresponsible parties were making false statements today that the government had issued a curfew order.
He said there had been no curfew order issued so far.
He said the fake information circulated online had caused panic among some residents who went on to buy essential items in bulks in preparation for the lockdown.
He said the public should check with agencies such as the health ministry and National Security Council or contact the nearest police station.
So far 553 Covid-19 cases have been reported, with 125 new cases today, of which 95 were linked to a tabligh gathering at Sri Petaling mosque recently.
Of the total, 42 cases had recovered. - FMT
