PETALING JAYA: There will be no saying "I do" at all National Registration Department (NRD) offices nationwide during the movement control order period.
The NRD also said that there will also be no divorces during the period and all differences must be set aside until March 31.
Ceremonies in churches, temples and religious associations where the assistant registrars would be attending to register marriages will also be put on hold, said the NRD in a statement Wednesday (March 18).
The 39 NRD offices nationwide, however, will remain open, except for those in the Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs).
NRD said that transactions that can be conducted at these NRD offices include applications for lost and spoilt MyKad, registration of births and death certificates as well as extraction of MyKad and birth certificates.
"NRD offices will operate from 8am to 5pm as usual on weekdays but requests that the public delay their transactions at NRD offices unless it is necessary or an emergency due to banking, health, work or there are issues with the authorities.
"During the MCO, all divisions of citizenship, marriage and divorce, investigation and enforcement will be suspended.
"All queries on marriage and divorce can be made through 03-8880 8134 while investigation and enforcement queries can be made through 03-8880 7770," said the NRD in the statement.
The NRD also asked those who could postpone their dealings to do so and return after the MCO. - Star
