PETALING JAYA: The government has suspended all volunteer programmes and research-related visits to Orang Asli villages in the peninsula from tomorrow onwards in an attempt to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to the community.
An internal circular by the Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa) said approval letters issued by for those purposes are now void.
It added that these programmes could resume once the outbreak subsides.
The letter, sighted by FMT, was distributed to all state native development departments in the peninsula as well as the heads of native communities.
The circular signed by Jakoa director Juli Edo also advised the departments to inform district officers and native community heads about the order to prevent the spread of the virus in villages.
He also asked them to stay informed about the developments of the outbreak and to follow the advice of the health ministry to prevent new infections.- FMT
