PAS assures all its ministers, MPs will declare their assets

Malaysiakini

PAS has agreed that its ministers, deputy ministers and backbenchers will declare their assets to the MACC.
"PAS has no obstruction for public office holders including ministers and deputy ministers to declare their assets," PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (above) told the media in Putrajaya today.
"I give my assurance that all PAS parliamentarians will declare (our assets)," said the newly minted environment minister.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin instructed all ministers and deputy ministers to declare their assets to the MACC within a month.
Previously, PAS and Umno opposed the asset declaration directive passed by the previous Pakatan Harapan administration at the Dewan Rakyat last year.
Tuan Ibrahim said PAS declined to declare their assets back then as they were the opposition and were not in the seat of power.
"(Furthermore), how can we ask the wives and the children of the MPs to declare their assets as they are not members of the House," added Tuan Ibrahim.
As of December 2019, only 160 MPs have submitted their asset declaration forms to Dewan Rakyat.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Environment Minister, said PAS has no issue if the Islamic party was given only a smaller share in cabinet posts as compared with other parties.
PAS was given three ministers and five deputy ministers position. The Islamic party only helms the agro entrepreneur and commodities ministry and environment ministry and de facto law ministry.
"Actually, we are working as a team under Perikatan Nasional.
"For us, whether we are given small or big position, it is important that we stay together in the component parties that formed the government where the people put their hope for," he said.
"So, no problem (at all)," he said.  - Mkini
