PAS' ulama wing is calling on all Malaysians to give their full support to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to fix the country.
The wing's information chief Mohd Nor Hamzah said this call is also for former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"With an open heart, we implore Mahathir to also give strong support to Muhyiddin, who was his student in Umno and Bersatu," Mohd Nor said in a Facebook post.
Muhyiddin was sworn in on Sunday as the head of a Bersatu-BN-PAS government dubbed Perikatan Nasional. Sarawak's GPS is also supporting Muhyiddin as prime minister.
Yesterday, the prime minister said he only accepted the nomination for the top post after Mahathir failed to secure a majority. He also said last week's political crisis was triggered by the latter resigning as premier.
However, Mahathir has accused Muhyiddin of triggering last week's political crisis and for betraying him.
The former premier also said he resigned as prime minister as he was unwilling to work with Umno en-bloc, unlike Muhyiddin.
Nevertheless, Mohd Nor said he hoped the new administration would make use of Mahathir's experience to "rebuild the country".
However, he said the former prime minister should also take an uncompromising stance against DAP, whom he said had an extremist ideology that contradicted the nonagenarian's struggles. - Mkini
