PAS not imposing conditions on cabinet appointments

Malaysiakini

PAS will not impose any conditions or make any requests in regards to the composition of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's cabinet.
In a statement today, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said his party will leave the formation of the cabinet entirely to Muhyiddin.
Hadi said this following his meeting with Muhyiddin to provide "preliminary feedback" on the new cabinet.
"(At the meeting) I offered my views that cabinet ministers should be chosen among people with integrity, qualifications, skills and representative of society.
"I also urged (Muhyiddin) to involve professionals to help the government improve the economy, education, health, welfare and establish an ombudsman in his administration," he said.
PAS makes up 18 of the approximately 114 MPs which backed Muhyiddin for prime minister.
It is the smallest bloc of MPs among the three main Malay parties supporting Muhyiddin with the other two being Bersatu (approximately 30 MPs) and Umno (39 MPs).
This is the second time PAS is part of the federal government following their brief stint as a BN component party between 1973 and 1978.
In November last year, then Pakatan Harapan de facto law minister Liew Vui Keong said the Cabinet had approved the formation of an independent Law Commission and Ombudsman.
The body, to be set up to investigate public complaints and grievances against the government and its agencies, was meant to take over the Public Complaints Bureau (BPA) and be operational from the first quarter of this year.
This is among several proposed laws, policies and legal amendments by the previous government which are now in limbo with the collapse of the two-year-old Harapan regime. - Mkini
