Pahang PAS has said that it will not seek to be part of the state’s Perikatan Nasional (PN) government executive councillor lineup unless specifically instructed to do so.
Speaking at a broadcasted press conference in Temerloh this evening, Pahang PAS chief Rosli Abdul Jabar (photo) said he was satisfied with the BN-led state administration and did not want to interfere with its affairs.
“We will not demand positions - in other words, we are not ready to accept them - for now until GE15. Not unless there are instructions from PN (leaders) at the federal level.
“If there are such instructions, we will discuss with the state government,” he said at the party’s state headquarters after chairing a meeting among local leaders.
Whilst they were not interested in exco positions, Rosli noted that PAS wanted to be part of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) committees at the village level.
They will also consider opportunities to be part of state agencies and state government-linked companies (GLCs).
The Tanjung Lumpur assemblyperson added that PAS representatives will continue to check and balance the state government even though they are now part of the ruling coalition.
Prior to the formation of PN, BN and PAS each held two states. The former ruled Pahang and Perlis while the latter ran Kelantan and Terengganu.
Along with ally GPS, PN now holds eight states - Pahang, Perlis, Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor, Perak, Melaka and Sarawak.
PN is a loose coalition comprising BN, PAS and Bersatu. - Mkini
