PN submits three Perak MB candidates to Sultan Nazrin

Malaysiakini

Perak Perikatan Nasional has officially submitted three names to Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah as the candidates for Perak menteri besar this afternoon.
Former Perak MB Ahmad Faizal Azumu confirmed that the three candidates are himself, state Umno chairperson Saarani Mohamad and PAS chief Razman Zakaria.
“We have presented the letter (warkah) to Sultan Nazrin for him to select the new MB in Perak.
“The three of us urge the people to be patient and keep calm while waiting for the announcement by the ruler regarding the 13th MB,” Faizal said to the media after an audience with Sultan Nazrin at Istana Kinta, Ipoh this afternoon.
Saarani (Kota Tampan assemblyperson) and Razman (Gunung Semanggol assemblyperson) were also present.
The state PN leaders met with Sultan Nazrin at 3pm today.
Meanwhile, China Press reported that the ruler summoned seven former Pakatan Harapan excos at 5pm today.
Among them are Asumi Awi (Amanah-Manjoi), Nizar Jamaluddin (Amanah-Sungai Rapat), Abdul Aziz Bari (DAP-Tebing Tinggi), A Sivanesan (DAP-Sungkai), Wong May Ing (DAP-Pantai Remis), Howard Lee Chuan How (DAP-Pasir Pinji) and Tan Kar Hing (PKR-Simpang Pulai).
However, the three excos who defected from their parties - Paul Yong Choo Kiong (DAP-Tronoh), Abdul Yunus Jamahri (PKR-Kuala Kurau), Hasnul Zulkarnain Munaim (Amanah-Titi Serong) - were not summoned to Istana Kinta.
Perak has a total of 59 assembly seats. Initially, Harapan controlled 30 seats which were made up of DAP with 18 seats, Amanah (six), PKR (four) and Bersatu (two).
Meanwhile, Umno has 25 seats, PAS has three and one is held by an independent assemblyperson.
In the current alignment after the defections, Perikatan Nasional now controls 35 seats which include Umno's 25, PAS (three), Bersatu (four) and three independent seats (with the former DAP and Amanah members).
Only 24 state seats remain for Harapan.  - Mkini
