Police: Only cops, Rela and soldiers allowed to enforce MCO

gombak
GOMBAK: District police have reminded the public that only they, the Malaysian Volunteer Corps (Rela) and the Armed Forces are allowed to enforce the movement control order (MCO).
OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe said this on Sunday (March 22) in response to a video online that purported to show voluntary patrols enforcing the order.
The videographer, when questioned in the video, claimed he had been given permission from the Gombak police station authorising him to conduct such patrols.
"No, it is not true," said ACP Arifai.
"There is no permission given to anyone to do patrols.
"Throughout the MCO period, only the police, Rela and ATM (MAF) are given the power to enforce the MCO," he said.
The video, believed to have been shot in either Kampung Changkat or Sungai Chinchin, shows a person being scolded for videographing a group of people outdoors.
In the video, the videographer is confronted, with one person demanding that he show proof he has been given permission to do patrols.
