Puteri Umno wants entertainment outlets to close

Malaysiakini

Puteri Umno has urged local governments to instruct entertainment outlets to close in view of the Covid-19 outbreak.
In a statement today, Puteri Umno leader Zahida Zarik Khan (photo) said preventive measures must be more all-encompassing.
She said the focus must not only be on the Tabligh event in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur that took place earlier this month.
"I am very disappointed that these Islamic missionaries are labelled as the main culprit in the spread of Covid-19.
"This perception must stop," she said.
Zahida also supported possible efforts to restrict the movement of people until the situation stabilises.
The event in a mosque in Sri Petaling has been cited as the source of the second wave of Covid-19 infections.
Participants from Cambodia, Singapore and Brunei have reported infections from event participants.
According to the health authorities, some 16,000 people participated in the three-day event, of which an estimated 14,500 are Malaysians.
As of Saturday, only 4,942 participants have been identified.
Yesterday, the Health Ministry had vowed to apply section 15(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 to compel event participants to quarantine themselves for 14 days. - Mkini
