CORONAVIRUS | Following the alarming situation pertaining to Covid-19, the Selangor state government has decided to cancel several public programmes.
This includes Selangor Job Fair 2020, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari (above) said in a statement.
However, the state will still continue with events deemed critical but with health precaution measures in place.
The statement followed advice by the Health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah today which urged the public to postpone mass gatherings to avoid contracting Covid-19.
Noor Hisham had also urged those with symptoms of infection to the respiratory tract to avoid crowded areas and to not attend public programmes including those related to religion.
"Individuals who have symptoms are advised to distance themselves at least 1m from other individuals," he said.
In a separate statement, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has also announced the postponement of its 92nd convocation ceremonies at UiTM Shah Alam and other campuses.
Meanwhile, Amirudin also said that the Selangor Economic Action Council has immediately approved the setting up of the Covid-19 task force.
Chaired by the former health minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, the members are Dr Christopher Lee Kwok Choong, Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Dr Fadzilah Kamaludin, Dr Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, and Dr Yap Wei Aun. - Mkini
