Selangor sets additional rules for movement control order

Restaurant, food stalls and convenience stores in Selangor are only allowed to operate from 6am to 12 midnight during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, according to Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

In an additional set of rules decided by the state government, food trucks, Pasar Tani (Farmer's market) and night markets, however, are not allowed to operate.

For public and wholesale markets, they are allowed to operate from 5am to 4pm, with the condition that the number of buyers from each family present in the premises are limited.

The same condition also applies to supermarkets and grocery stores, which are allowed to open until midnight. Supermarkets also have to abide by the MCO rule that only their grocery section is opened.

Amirudin (photo) in a statement said the decision to impose additional rules for MCO in Selangor was made during a special meeting by the state government together with local council presidents and district officers on Friday.

"The state government takes it very seriously that certain quarters of the society still flouting the order to stay at home and not to go out except for critical necessity as outlined (by the government).

"Thus, the state government through coordination with all local councils in the state will start imposing these additional rules with immediate effect.

"These orders are effective until March 31 as has been set through MCO by the federal government," he said.

The additional rules also allowed workshops and spare part outlets to open for business between 9am and 4pm while there is no restriction for towing service hours.

There is also no time restriction for petrol stations, however, convenience stores that operate within these stations still have to adhere to the midnight time limit.

All laundry services and car wash premises are not allowed to open at all.
