Two more Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) employees have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total to three. Access to the telco’s office buildings has also been restricted to all but critical function employees.
Last Friday, it reported its first case of Covid-19, involving an employee based in Menara TM One in Damansara.
The two new cases involved an employee based at Menara TM, while the other worked out of Menara TM Annexe 2 (TMA2). The first was last in office on March 10, and the second on March 11.
The employees are currently in government hospitals for medical treatment.
TM Group CEO Datuk Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin said the company has implemented stringent safety protocols at its office buildings.
This included a lockdown and disinfection of Menara TM, TMA2 and Menara TM Annexe 1 (TMA1) yesterday. Entry into these buildings were restricted to only employees identified under Critical Functions.
"Our employees continue to work at full speed, although within the guidelines and restrictions imposed by the Government on Covid-19, to ensure the functioning of our network infrastructure and guarantee the continuity of our services, ” he said, in a press statement.
TM is working with the Health Ministry to investigate where the employees contracted the virus and is ordering employees based in the TMA1 and TMA2 buildings to self-isolate, work from home or from a contingency site.
The telco assured it had already implemented preventive measures across its operations to curb the spread of Covid-19, including daily temperature checks on all employees and visitors, providing face masks for customer-facing employees, conducting routine sanitisation of TM’s buildings, as well as closing its customer service centres. - Star
