CORONAVIRUS | In the midst of the movement control order (MCO) and the Covid-19 outbreak, the Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Residents’ Association has mobilised funds within their community to provide assistance to families from the Bukit Kiara longhouses.
“We wish to extend neighbourly support to our rumah panjang friends during these challenging times, especially where some in the families may experience reduced income or no income.
“We collected the funds from TTDI residents in a very short period of time last week in order to provide the assistance as soon as possible,” said TTDI Residents’ Association chairperson Abdul Hafiz Abu Bakar and Save Taman Rimba Kiara working group coordinator Leon Koay in a statement today.
The assistance was provided to all 100 families living in the longhouses, and each family was given RM50 in Hero Market vouchers which can then be used according to each family’s needs, they said.
The vouchers were distributed to the families between March 21 and 23 with the cooperation of the Persatuan Penduduk Rumah Panjang Bukit Kiara secretary Sivakumar Muniandy, the office of Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh and Hero Market TTDI.
This assistance from the TTDI Residents’ Association comes amid a movement control order which started on March 18 and is expected to end on March 31.
The MCO was imposed in an attempt to break the transmission of the Covid-19 disease in Malaysia.
Malaysia recorded 212 new Covid-19 cases and four new deaths yesterday, marking the highest single-day increase for both figures.
This brings the total number of infections to 1,518 cases and the total number of deaths to 14. - Mkini
