Tuan Ibrahim: Stop the attacks against journalist

KUALA LUMPUR: Environment Minister Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) has called for all racist and personal attacks towards a journalist to stop.

"I disagree with any personal attacks towards a reporter. Mistakes, misinterpreted information that strayed from the actual context are common," the PAS deputy president said in a Facebook post, adding this should be handled in a more professional manner.

He said the environment was an agenda that transcended race, religion and geographical boundaries.

Malaysiakini had reported that its journalist Kow Gah Chie was being harassed on Facebook over an article she wrote about Tuan Ibrahim defending logging in Kelantan.

The attacks were made mainly in the comments section of a Facebook post criticising the article.

The news portal also reported that the post implied that the article had been fabricated as such questions were not asked at Tuan Ibrahim's press conference the day before, which was streamed live.

The article was based in an interview after the press conference, where a group of reporters spoke to the minister. - Star
