The past week plus has been an emotional upheaval for me and many Malaysians. Emotional because we believed like never before that it was possible to have a Malaysia for all Malaysians.
But in the span of a couple of days, the rug was pulled out from under our feet. Shattered, we stomached it with the hope that a change would occur when Parliament next sits.
However, what is turning out to be equally revolting is the current scenario of "He says, she say"'! Who really cares about what was said?
The deed is done and our leaders of this nation, both past and present, are behaving like a bunch of schoolboys happy/unhappy with the outcome of a football match on the school field.
Instead of staying focused and working towards ensuring numbers in Parliament we have this hurling of accusations.
Can we trust our country in the hands of these grown boys? Perhaps it is time for the women to take stock and take charge.
Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, just as you were thrust into politics unbidden due to circumstances, make a bold move now to consolidate PKR. With the other women on the team, ensure that principled MPs remain so.
In a span of two months, there is a chance of bringing back the people's choice which was snatched away. The unexpected and unprecedented move has left the "boys" at the top non-plussed.
If anyone can do it, you can. In your gentleness there is steel. Two months will fly by and we don't want MPs jumping ship and with that the aspirations for a government for the people by the people.
A good fight must be put up no matter what the outcome. It's about time the women start taking charge as is happening in many other countries. - Mkini
