Wan Fayshal: I did not betray ex-boss Syed Saddiq or Dr M

Malaysiakini
Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said he did not betray his former boss Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman or Bersatu president Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He urged critics to wait for him to go on a nationwide tour as part of his campaign to be elected Bersatu Youth leader.
"I will clear the air. I did not betray Saddiq nor Mahathir.
"Our political differences in Bersatu are akin to Saydina Ali and Mu'awiyyah. Those who labelled others as traitors are an extremist like the Khawarij," said Wan Ahmad (photo) on Twitter, referring to the historical conflict between the three during the time of the fourth Islamic caliphate.
Wan Ahmad was once a special functions officer to Syed Saddiq when the latter was youth and sports minister.
Syed Saddiq and Mahathir both refused to be part of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's Perikatan Nasional government.
Bersatu had pulled out of Pakatan Harapan in late February, causing the coalition government to collapse.
After absorbing nine MPs from PKR, Bersatu then formed a new coalition government with Umno, PAS, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and other parties.
Wan Ahmad is not among the Bersatu MPs. He was made a deputy minister after he was appointed a senator.
Syed Saddiq will be defending his position as Bersatu Youth chief during the party election, which is supposed to be held this year, and is being challenged by Wan Ahmad and Muzzamil Ismail.
