MELAKA: The water rationing exercise in the state will end on April 1, says Chief Minister Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali.
A total of 735,221 households were affected by the exercise.
Water rationing started since Jan 29 at zone one and on March 10 at zone two. Also affected were hotels and industrial estates.
Sulaiman said the state anticipates the water level at Durian Tunggal Dam to reach 43% by April 1 and hit 60% by the third week of April.
"We are also pumping at a maximum capacity of 210mil litres from Sungai Muar, Johor including channelling 300mil litres a day from two bunded storage in the state."
He said efforts are being made to ensure taps keep flowing during the movement control order (MCO).
He added that the production capacities at three dams in the state on March 28 stood at 40.9% or 12,620mil litres for Durian Tunggal Dam, Jus Dam (23.0%) and 72.8% for Asahan Dam. - Star
