PETALING JAYA: A woman’s failure to provide full disclosure during screening at a private hospital in Kedah has led to it having to close for two days for disinfection.
In a Facebook post, Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok said it will be closing tomorrow and on Monday after it received its first Covid-19 case.
It said the woman, 30, had not provided full disclosure prior to being admitted for delivery.
“She developed a fever after giving birth.
“Further questioning led to the finding that the woman had been living with a family member who had attended the tabligh gathering at the Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur and had tested positive for Covid-19.”
The hospital said it promptly disinfected the areas visited by the patient, in line with stringent infection control guidelines.
“Contact tracing was immediately initiated and all staff who had been in contact with the patient have been identified, placed under quarantine and tested negative for Covid-19.”
The woman is now being treated at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar, while all the inpatients at Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok have been discharged.
“Clinical services will resume on March 24 and patients can continue with their existing care plans at the hospital.”
The hospital urged all visitors to do their part in curbing the spread of Covid-19 by practising good personal hygiene and providing full and accurate disclosure during the screening process.

A total of 1,183 people have tested positive for Covid-19 nationwide, with six deaths reported. - FMT
