Pandemic polls sees voting centres sanitised 5 times a day

SARAWAK POLLS | Voting centres are being sanitised up to five times a day to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

At the Kompleks Sukan Satok voting centre in Kuching, cleaning personnel sanitised all surfaces at 7am before voting started and a second time at 10am.

They will sanitise the area again at 1pm, 3pm, and when voting ends at 5pm.

Malaysiakini observed as voting at the seven voting streams was temporarily halted to allow for the sanitisation to take place.

One of the cleaning personnel, Mohamad Amir Ashraf, said they focus on high contact surfaces.

“As vendors, we have been instructed to sanitise and wipe all items used by voters and all surfaces that voters touch when they come,” he explained to the media when asked.

They also have to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including full-body suits during their rounds.

“Yes, it is very hot,” Amir said.

Aside from Amir, the three other cleaning personnel at this voting centre are Muhammad Fairuz Johny as well as sisters Jasmin Baijuri and Shafia Baijuri. - Mkini
