PKR Communication director Fahmi Fadzil has confirmed as fake a statement purportedly from party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution that Anwar Ibrahim had relinquished his position as head of the party.
Fahmi issue a note in the party's official Whatsapp Communication confirming that the notice was not genuine.
The faked notice used the party's masthead and logo to state that Anwar was stepping down as party president to take responsibility for PKR's poor performance in the Malacca and Sarawak state elections.
It also claimed that he was stepping down as the head of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
The fake note made reference to Anwar being replaced by his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar as party president and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as Harapan leader.
Saifuddin himself told Malaysiakini that the party strongly condemns the dirty politics of the desperate who aim to weaken PKR.
"I urge all members of Keadilan to remain calm and take information only from party sources.
"I call on the people as a whole to reject dirty politics and those who wish to cause conflict.
"Keadilan will continue to work as a multi-racial political party to defend the lives of the people in the path of justice," he added.- Mkini
