PETALING JAYA: Flood victims in Kampung Bangi Lama received RM100 food and hygiene kits from the rural development minister Mahdzir Khalid, who visited the village today.
Mahdzir said the kits were among the urgent aid being given out by the ministry to flood victims.
“The ministry has taken the initiative to reduce their burden by sending urgently needed aid. More aid will be sent after a thorough evaluation of the flood crisis,” he said during his visit to the village.
A total of 230 families were affected by the floods, according to Mahdzir, who was briefed by village head Rasidin Md Yusoff.
He added that the ministry had mobilised volunteers from its state-level agencies to flood-hit locations all over the country.
“The ministry will also help repair damaged rural infrastructure, such as village roads and drains,” he said. - FMT
