Keep calm, we will do everything we can to save you, PM tells flood victims

 

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has assured flood victims that the government will do everything it can to get them out of harm's way.

"To the flood victims, don't worry. We will ensure that all efforts to save them will be done.

"I just ask that they be careful, and look after their children," he said in a late-night press conference on the flood situation from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) office in Puchong, Selangor.

A tropical depression had triggered continuous heavy rainfall that wreaked havoc on the Klang Valley and other states.

Among the worst-hit areas in the Klang Valley was Klang.

Ismail Sabri said the army and other rescue agencies will be out all night to evacuate flood victims across the country to safe shelter.

He also assured that victims will receive food aid.

Asked about monetary compensation, Ismail Sabri said this will be discussed later.

"What's important now is to save lives. The matter of aid, and finances we can deal with later," he said. - Mkini
