Covid-19 (March 12): 26,250 new cases, 77 deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 26,250 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 3,801,036.

Active cases currently stood at 323,785, up 7.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (6,472)
Penang (2,533)
Kuala Lumpur (2,399)
Johor (2,298)
Kedah (2,292)
Negeri Sembilan (1,786)
Perak (1,555)
Sarawak (1,427)
Pahang (1,424)
Kelantan (1,114)
Terengganu (881)
Sabah (796)
Malacca (766)
Perlis (191)
Putrajaya (191)
Labuan (125)

Another 77 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 23 had died outside of hospital care.

Over the past week, an average of 78.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 54.8, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 33,720 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 971 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 771 deaths last month and 491 deaths in January.

The state with the highest death was Penang (12), followed by Kelantan (11), Selangor (11), and Kedah (9).

There are 8,691 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised in non-critical wards while another 367 are in intensive care. These patients amount to 2.8 percent of active cases. - Mkini
