'Death by hanging' reported at Penang district police HQ

 

Police have reported a custodial death incident at the Seberang Perai Selatan district police headquarters in Penang.

Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department deputy director Allaudeen Abdul Majid said a post-mortem concluded the deceased died from hanging but did not reveal the circumstances of how it happened.

"A post-mortem was conducted at Seberang Jaya Hospital, Penang on March 24 and the outcome of the post-mortem determined that the cause of death was 'death by hanging'," he said in a statement.

Allaudeen said the Criminal Investigation Unit on Deaths in Custody, under the Bukti Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department, will investigate the matter.

He added that all angles will be looked at before the investigation outcome is handed over to a coroner.

The deceased died on March 23. - Mkini
