Does Rafizi think he is qualified to challenge Anwar? - Farhash

Former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador has accused Rafizi Ramli of implicitly attacking party president Anwar Ibrahim.

Farhash (above) said the former Pandan MP should challenge Anwar for the party presidency if Rafizi thinks he can do better.

"Does he believe he is qualified to challenge Anwar as president? If so, we are in a democracy.

"Let the PKR members see for themselves the face of those who are hungry for power and intends to put down the party leadership," Farhash said in a statement last night.

The position of PKR deputy president is vacant. Rafizi was the first to publicly announce his candidacy followed by Farhash - who also once served as Anwar's political secretary.

When announcing his candidacy on Tuesday, Rafizi criticised the PKR and Pakatan Harapan leadership over a string of decisions involving connivance with BN or Perikatan Nasional (PN).

This, said Rafizi, had disincentivised fence-sitters from backing Harapan and thus allowing BN to easily win several key elections in recent years while retaining approximately the same support levels since 2018.

‘Rafizi wants absolute power’

Rafizi added that he had been on a political hiatus since 2019 because he was not able to participate in decisions he could not agree with.

Farhash said this statement indicated that Rafizi was not able to participate in collective decision making and was thus seeking "absolute power" as PKR president.

"As a (self-proclaimed) party man, he should be careful with his words when returning to politics and avoid hurting the feelings of PKR members.

"He must remember that PKR is a very dynamic party because it represents the voices of all levels of society and therefore party decisions are made through consensus," he added.
