PETALING JAYA: A car was almost completely destroyed after it caught fire along the North-South Expressway (NSE) near the Sungai Buloh Hospital exit.
A spokesperson from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said the incident occurred at 1.18pm on Saturday (March 26).
"We received a distress call on the incident and dispatched a fire engine and six firemen from the Sungai Buloh fire station to the scene.
"They arrived at the scene and found a car engulfed in flames," he said when contacted Saturday.
He said the 44-year-old driver managed to stop the vehicle along the side of the road and escape when he saw smoke coming from the vehicle dashboard.
"Our personnel managed to control the flames before putting out the fire shortly after," he said.
The fire caused a traffic jam as motorists slowed down at the sight of the incident. - Star
