PETALING JAYA: Fahmi Fadzil is mulling throwing his hat into the ring for the vice-president’s post when PKR holds its elections in May.
The Lembah Pantai MP said several members had proposed that he contest the post.
“Contesting in the party polls is not an easy decision to make, but I am considering it,” he told FMT.
Fahmi, a former aide to Nurul Izzah Anwar, had in the 2018 party polls vied for a spot in the party’s central leadership committee.
Although he failed to secure a place, he was subsequently made the party’s communications director, a post he currently holds.
“At that time, I had just won the parliamentary seat. The scenario was a little different then.
“But I remain a party man. Whether I contest the post or not, I will continue to serve the party.”
Meanwhile, sources told FMT that former student activists Adam Adli and Fahmi Zainol were eyeing the PKR Youth chief post.
The wing’s current chief is Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.
Fahmi Zainol, who had courted trouble with Universiti Malaya for inviting PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to speak at the university, is the current Penang PKR Youth chief. - FMT
