Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has submitted its registration to become an official political coalition to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) two weeks ago, Bersatu Sabah deputy chief Masidi Manjun said.
The Sabah local government and housing minister (above) said GRS was currently preparing certain things requested by the ROS and hoped that the coalition’s registration would be completed soon.
"We are still awaiting (the registration process). They (ROS) have asked for further particulars but we have not given them yet,” Masidi told a media conference after launching the administering of Covid-19 vaccines to children as well as booster doses at Wisma Innoprise in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.
On Feb 26, Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, who is also GRS chairperson, had said that the coalition would be registered soon, so as to ensure that cooperation among parties backing the current Sabah government is strengthened.
Hajiji said formalising GRS as a political coalition is also among steps taken to ensure the state government’s efforts to protect the interests of the people run smoothly
GRS comprises parties from Perikatan Nasional (Bersatu, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah Progressive Party, PAS and Gerakan); Barisan Nasional (Umno, MCA, MIC, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah); and Parti Bersatu Sabah.
