In light of the youth involvement in the development of the state, Johor BN chairperson Hasni Mohammad has suggested that party leadership appoint a youth leader as the menteri besar.
“Seeing the support and the position of youth that are crucial in the development of the state of Johor, and for the sake of lasting prosperity of the state, I suggest for the party leadership to appoint a youth leader to lead Johor,” he said in a statement.
Hasni, who is a former Johor MB, thanked all the members and machinery in the BN components who worked hard to campaign during the Johor polls and hoped for a more prosperous leadership during the state’s next term.
“InsyaAllah (god willing) under the new leadership, the state of Johor will be more prosperous.
“As I mentioned on the eve of BN’s victory, there is no political ideology, politician, and political party that is more important than Johor Darul Ta’zim.
“Now is the time for us to build a more prosperous Johor, together,” he said.
Earlier, Hasni said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would have an audience with the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, to decide the appointment of the next menteri besar.
Zahid had previously re-elected Hasni as the sole menteri besar candidate.
BN won the Johor polls with more than a two-thirds majority, taking 40 out of the 56 state seats up for grabs.
Zahid was earlier seen arriving at the Umno building in Jalan Yahya Awal at 2.30pm, and he left the building some 20 minutes later.
Also seen was Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan. - Mkini
