Johoreans will reject parties led by ‘rogues and bandits’, says Dr M

Dr Mahathir Mohamad believes Johor voters will not support politicians who put their interests first.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is confident Johor voters will reject “bad leaders” in the polls this Saturday, just as they did in the past.

In an apparent swipe at Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno, Mahathir said Johoreans had repeatedly proven their readiness to reject politicians who put their own interests ahead of serving the people.

“I believe the people of Johor will not vote for candidates from a party led by rogues and bandits who have no values and principles.

“The political instability has allowed these bad leaders to cover up the truth of their deception but I am confident that Johoreans will reject them,” he said in his latest letter addressed to Johor voters today.

Mahathir, who is Pejuang chairman, said his party’s candidates had vowed to reject corruption and abuse of power.

He said if given the chance to form the state government, Pejuang would ensure efforts were made to rebuild Johor’s economy.

The party would also establish a government free of corruption, he added.

Pejuang is contesting in 42 of the 56 state assembly seats, while PN and BN have candidates for all 56 seats. Pakatan Harapan is contesting in 50 seats.

Johor goes to the polls this Saturday, with the Election Commission stating 2,539,606 voters are eligible to cast their ballots. There have been 21,407 early voters and 36,729 postal votes were sent out. - FMT
