Kuala Nerus MP Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali has received overtures from both Umno and Amanah, less than 24 hours after he announced his departure from PAS.
Former Umno supreme council member Annuar Musa said Khairuddin (above) was someone with a strong will.
"As his colleague in Parliament, I hope he will consider continuing his struggle through Umno and BN," the Ketereh MP said on Facebook last night.
Similarly, Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa congratulated Khairuddin for leaving PAS.
"Leaving a party is not apostasy. PAS is not a religion, it's just a political party.
"We congratulate (Khairuddin who was removed as) the secretary of the (PAS) syura council. It shows that Amanah was once slandered in the past," he tweeted today.
Amanah is a splinter of PAS that was formed in 2015 after a group of progressive figures were voted out of the PAS central committee.
According to Mujahid, Amanah was open to all, thereby hinting that its doors were open to Khairuddin.
Once a rising star in PAS, Khairuddin announced his departure from the party yesterday but did not explain why.
In recent months, he was removed from the PAS central committee and the syura council.
The former plantation industries and commodities minister is widely regarded as a rare figure in PAS who preferred that the party cooperated with Umno rather than Bersatu.
However, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang made it clear that his party's allegiance was with Bersatu in the Perikatan Nasional coalition. - Mkini
