‘Malu Apa Bossku’ against Islamic teachings, Lee Kim Yew tells EC

Lee Kim Yew also took a jab at Najib Razak while campaigning with Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad recently.

PETALING JAYA: Tycoon Lee Kim Yew has written to the Election Commission (EC) to complain over how former prime minister Najib Razak has been campaigning for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Johor state elections.

According to a report by Nanyang Siang Pau, Lee said the “Malu Apa Bossku” tagline that is used by Najib’s supporters violates “Islamic teachings” and needs to be stopped.

The letter was sent to EC chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh yesterday.

Lee, who submitted the letter in his capacity as an MCA member, also questioned how Najib was allowed to campaign in the Johor polls despite his conviction in relation to the SRC International case.

Najib, who is appealing the conviction, has been drawing in the crowds on the campaign trail in Johor.

Lee claimed that Najib had a “big production budget” to boost his image with posters larger than any candidate. The Country Heights executive chairman said the EC should look into this.

“If all Malaysians learn to be ‘tak malu’ (not ashamed) like him, then what is the point of having an election?

“What kind of talent or leaders are the EC preparing the country for?” said Lee, who recently campaigned with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Ayer Hitam.

This, he said, was why the EC should not allow the “Malu Apa Bossku” tagline in any election.

Previously, Lee, while campaigning with the Pejuang chairman, took a jab at Najib, urging the people against mixing with “individuals who were convicted by the courts”. - FMT
