The Johor legislative assembly election has concluded and the results are being tallied.
This report will provide updates on the results as they are announced.
Maszlee Malik defeated
9.32pm: PKR's Maszlee Malik has been defeated in Layang-Layang.
With around 90 percent of the votes counted, BN has emerged with 7,309 votes.
Maszlee is in a distant second with 4,613 votes followed by Perikatan Nasional (PN) at 1,213 votes. Pejuang has received 168.
The incumbent is BN but PKR had fielded a high-profile candidate in a bid to capture the seat.
Maszlee is the Simpang Renggam MP. Layang-Layang is a state seat within Simpang Renggam.
The other state seat is Machap, which BN has also retained.
PKR loses two seats to BN
9.28pm: PKR loses the state seats of Bukit Naning and Semerah, which it won in 2018, to BN.
This means BN has recaptured 10 seats which it lost in the last general election.
In another development, BN also retains Parit Raja and Machap. - Mkini
