JOHOR POLLS | Since Muhyiddin Yassin was ousted as the prime minister in August last year, he has had limited access to government resources.
But this has not stopped the Bersatu president from leveraging on ministers who are from his party.
Using his title as National Recovery Council chairperson, Bersatu ministers have been organising government events to allow Muhyiddin to speak amid campaigning for the Johor polls.
The ministers have attempted to pre-emptively parry accusations of abusing government machinery by calling them "working visits" and these visits have seen an increased frequency as the state election campaign nears the close.
Today, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun will attend her ministry's Women's Day programme hosted in Muar and Muhyiddin is scheduled to be present, according to the itinerary.
Tomorrow morning, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Ronald Kiandee will hold a talk with farmers in Batu Pahat, and again, Muhyiddin will be there.
Dialogue sessions with Felda settlers
Previously, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Abdul Latiff Ahmad also organised various dialogue sessions with Felda settlers across Johor, at which Muhyiddin delivered his speech.
All three are Bersatu ministers.
Not to be outdone, Umno ministers have also gone all out with "working visits" in Johor. Today, at least three ministers are on such a trip.
This morning, Rural and Regional Development Minister Mahdzir Khalid visited Tanjung Surat in Pengerang, where he engaged with the local community.
At 10.30am, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Noh Omar will hold an engagement session with entrepreneurs under the ministry in Johor Bahru.
Then, at 2.30pm, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Adham Baba will launch a start-up event in Nusajaya, Johor.
Yesterday, Housing and Local Government Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican was handing out approval letters for house repairs in Johor Bahru.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob was also at Felda Lok Heng Timur in Sedili, Johor, where he announced various allocations for the local settlers.
Since the start of the campaign, many ministers have had a sudden urge to hold working visits in Johor and they have only increased in frequency as campaigning for the Johor polls enters the final stretch.
There are only two days left to campaign for the Johor polls before voters decide on Saturday, March 12. - Mkini
