PN not naming MB candidate until it wins election - Muhyiddin

JOHOR POLLS | Perikatan Nasional has decided not to reveal its menteri besar candidate for Johor, said its chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.

Speaking to reporters this morning, he said they would only announce their choice of menteri besar when and if the coalition managed to form a state government.

"The leadership has decided that we will not announce (PN's candidate for menteri besar). There are also several other parties that have not named their menteri besar candidate.

"It's not because we do not have a candidate. PN has many leaders who are capable and with calibre.

"When the time comes, inshaAllah, when we win the election and get the majority (in the state legislative assembly), then surely we will announce. Hopefully, the person selected will be a good menteri besar," he said

Muhyiddin met reporters after attending a Women's Day event organised by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry in Muar this morning.

PN, which is a coalition that comprises Bersatu, PAS, and Gerakan in the Peninsula, has been coy about naming their menteri besar candidate for the Johor state election.

Several other political parties including opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan had also taken a similar approach of not announcing who will be their choice for menteri besar, albeit strong rumours that Harapan is banking on PKR's Maszlee Malik who is contesting the Layang Layang state seat.

So far, only BN has named its choice for menteri besar, Hasni Mohammad. - Mkini
