RM600,000 spent on door gifts for Keluarga Malaysia events - minister

PARLIAMENT | The government has spent RM600,000 on door gifts for the 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia event as well as for various other official Keluarga Malaysia events nationwide.

The 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia event was held over four days at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) last December to mark the 100 days of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration.

“The items or products meant for the Keluarga Malaysia campaign during the 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia programme were done under procurement with a total price of RM600,000.

“The items were used as door gifts for the programme’s visitors as well as door gifts for official programmes nationwide.

“Among the items provided are paper bags, face masks, hand sanitiser, caps and stationery,” said Special Functions Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad (above) in a parliamentary written reply dated March 10.

He was responding to a question from Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi who had asked for a detailed breakdown of the total printing and manufacturing costs for the products of the Keluarga Malaysia concept.

The Keluarga Malaysia event in KLCC last year saw over 103,000 visitors and was continued at the state level through the Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia Tour.

The event in KLCC had been criticised and the organisers fined RM1,000 as those attending mostly ignored physical distancing measures meant to curb the spread of Covid-19. - Mkini
