Kukusan assemblyperson Rina Jainal has quit Warisan to join Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah.
Rina (above), in a press conference today, announced her departure from Warisan and her resignation from all of her party posts with immediate effect.
She was the Wirawati Kalabakan chief and vice central Wirawati chief.
Rina’s decision to join Parti Harapan was announced by president Liew Yun Fah during the press conference in Kota Kinabalu.
“I chose to join Parti Harapan as I believe we can bring more development to Tawau.
“The party is focused and works for the people in Tawau,” she was quoted as saying by The Borneo Post.
Peter, Mohamaddin left earlier
Following her announcement today, Rina has joined a host of other elected representatives in resigning from the Sabah-based party in recent times.
They include former Sabah minister and Melalap assemblyperson Peter Anthony, who left the party last December, and Lahad Datu MP and Segama assemblyperson Mohamaddin Ketapi, who had made a similar announcement a few months prior in October.
Peter’s move was fueled by the decision to establish a new party, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat, which was launched in March.
He had reportedly said that the new party will be cooperating with the GRS-led Sabah state government.
Meanwhile, Mohamaddin had said he decided to leave Warisan and become an independent representative friendly to the ruling GRS coalition. - Mkini
