SEPANG: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today gave the first group of Malaysian haj pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia a warm send-off at the Movenpick Convention Centre here.
The 295 pilgrims will depart for the Holy Land via Saudia flight SV5635 at 1.35pm today from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Also present were religious affairs minister Idris Ahmad, finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Lembaga Tabung Haji group managing director and chief executive officer Amrin Awaluddin, and Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Malaysia Mahmoud Hussien Saeed Qattan.
The Saudi Arabian government has allocated a haj quota of 14,306 pilgrims to Malaysia this year.
Malaysian pilgrims were unable to perform haj for the last two years due to the Covid-19 restrictions. - FMT
